As a caveat, let me ask a question:
What is the difference between Jupiter in Gemini and Jupiter conjunct Mercury?
‘What is the difference between this and that’ is a powerful question to ask when we want to know how well we know what we know, and challenge ourselves to know better.
So… What is the difference between Jupiter in Gemini and Jupiter conjunct Mercury?
Mercury has two sides, a Gemini side and a Virgo side. One is in the Air and the other down to Earth.
As for Jupiter, it finds its domiciles in Sagittarius and Pisces. Fire and Water are the elements of Jupiter’s dual nature.
Contacts between Jupiter and Mercury are somehow contacts between all mutable energies, Virgo, Pisces, Gemini and Sagittarius.
(Planets are more powerful energies than signs - Signs are like moods, seasons or environments, and planets are focal points. But let’s leave this aside for now.)
In our laboratory of applied symbolism, aka creative imagination, let’s take some Sagittarius powder and sprinkle it over the Virgo Petri dish. Let’s wonder at visions such as expanding toolboxes and engineering works; here is a seamstress at university teaching how to stitch wounds and transplant organs; there, eye on the microscope, we discover a tiny new world in which the great laws of the universe can be seen at work… If we had time we would keep sprinkling.
We will then pour a few drops of Pisces tincture onto Gemini dust, after which we will sprinkle Sagittarius powder onto Gemini balls, we will do Pisces-Virgo next and at the end of the working day we’ll have harvested many potentially relevant pictures to Mercury-Jupiter contacts.
However, for now, we’re only exploring Jupiter in Gemini.
A first difference between Jupiter in Gemini and Jupiter-Mercury contacts is that with the former, we can switch off Virgo. There is no earth in this mix. Sorry Virgo.
A second difference is that with Jupiter in Gemini, Jupiter is the concentrated energy and Gemini is Jupiter’s current mindset. It’s more specific that Jupiter-Mercury contacts.
Let’s investigate Jupiter in Gemini.
Let’s place Jupiter in a Gemini snow globe and shake to see what’s happening.
As ruler of two signs, Jupiter has a Sagittarius side and a Pisces side.
Let’s start with the Sagittarius side.
Can you feel the energy of a centaur shooting an arrow?
How would you feel if you were ten years old and playing at being a centaur shooting an arrow?
Feel the power of a galloping horse as if you were it. A movie director would know how to make you feel that, please do it yourself!
I would like to be sure you sense the wind in your mane and can’t help but shout: ‘Yahoo!’
I have only words to try and take you there. Jupiter is in exile in Gemini. Words alone can’t unleash such energy in your present moment. Yahoo, you see what I mean? Conjure it up for yourself and feel it please! Yahoo!!!
This fabulous power at full speed rushes into a human torso, arms and head, the wind in the hair is nothing compared with the wind flowing like horse blood within yourself!
Consciousness, divinely drunk but precise enough, adds to its own galloping speed the projecting power of a bow and shoots itself towards the sky…
The target is wide and the centre is everywhere, how could it miss?
And now, imagine this is happening between two twins.
Before Jupiter’s arrival, they talk, talk and talk… What’s between them flies like small birds or butterflies, turns left, turns right, back at you, change, ping pong ping ping pong ping!
Suddenly every little bird, every butterfly turns into a winged horse, arrows hit essential truths, the energy becomes so great that one of the twins jumps as high as heaven whilst the other falls, unconscious, onto the ground.
The twin above sets out to wake up his twin brothers and sisters. Preach! Preach!
They won’t listen. They won’t understand. The pure bliss the one above knows is too big, too high, too much for them to get it. What the twin from above is trying to convey can’t sit on little birds back, by little birds I mean words…
How can mystics and philosophers talk to people? Jupiter is in exile in Gemini. This is a great challenge for the energy that reaches as high as truth to translate itself into awakening words…
Ask Rumi how to pass a few drops of nectar from heaven to earth…
But without me noticing, Jupiter has turned to its Pisces side. When it’s trying to reach high, full of Fire, it’s the Sagittarius side, when it tries to exhort, when it shares the sacred Fire, it’s still Sagittarius, the teacher, the guide, but when the arrow has reached as high as the sky it turns into a mystic fish. Immersed in an ocean of bliss its words become praise, prayer and poetry.
When I’ll be back to reading charts, I’ll remember that everyone has Jupiter somewhere, and that not everyone is an enthusiastic mystic. I’ll pour some water in my wine.
Still, everyone has their own sky. When in Gemini, Jupiter wants to pass the word about it.
Thank you!
Jean-Marc
I offer expensive readings (because it takes time to prepare) and very affordable tasters (first impressions, from £15 for 15 minutes to £50 for 75 minutes)
My own Jupiter is in Aquarius, whilst Mercury lingers in Libra. I love teaching astrology, in one to one or small group formats. Check my website, contact me.

Reading astrological charts is not enough. I can help processing whatever needs to be: I am a good listener, as empathetic as Water can be after the storm and two Saturn returns. That’s why I offer active listening. Ask me for a taster!
